Research Progress on Barite Recovery Technology from High-density Waste Drilling Fluid

    • With the increasing exploitation of unconventional oil and gas fields, the problem of recycling barite in high-density waste drilling fluid is becoming more and more prominent. The high-density waste drilling fluid produced in deep and ultra-deep wells has complex composition and high content of fine particles of barite and low density solids, which leads to poor separation effect of barite and low density solids. Objective However, the existing treatment technology has many problems, such as small processing capacity, large equipment investment, low recovery efficiency and environmental pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new high-efficiency, low-cost, environmentally-friendly barite recycling technology. MethodAiming at the difficulty of barite recovery in high-density waste drilling fluid, this article summarizes the current research status of the recycling and utilization technology of weights in waste drilling fluid in recent years, focuses on the recycling technology of barite flotation, and expounds the mechanism of action and emergence effect of flotation collectors and inhibitors. Result It also prospects the development trend and key directions of barite flotation reagent research. Conclusion It provides theoretical support and method reference for the research and development of barite resource recovery and utilization technology from high-density waste drilling fluid on site.
