Selectivity Test of a Vein Quartz Mine in Sichuan

    • Objective Driven by the global technological revolution and the upgrading of high-end manufacturing, the demand for high-purity quartz as a strategic material for semiconductors and others has increased significantly. To reduce the risk of dependence on foreign raw materials, it is necessary to screen domestic highly purified vein quartz and other alternative raw materials. Method For a sample of vein quartz from Sichuan, its selectivity was evaluated and purified by the process of ‘crushing and sand-making - magnetic separation - flotation - acid leaching’. Result High-purity quartz sand with a purity of 99.998% was obtained in the experiment. Conclusion Based on a comprehensive analysis of mineral composition, distribution characteristics, microscopic morphology and chemical composition during physical and chemical beneficiation processes, this sample meets the standards of high-end quartz sand and can be used as the outer layer sand of photovoltaic crucibles.
