Comprehensive Utilization Test of Low-grade Manganese Ores in Southwest China

    • Object Exploratory test research was conducted on the comprehensive utilization of high-silicon low-grade manganese ores from southwest China. Method Through sulfuric acid curing and leaching processes, the crystal structure of manganese silicate minerals was effectively destroyed, enabling most manganese silicate to be converted into manganese sulfate. Subsequent purification and impurity removal from the leachate facilitated the preparation of manganese carbonate products. Systematic condition optimization experiments were performed, including pretreatment sulfuric acid dosage, processing time, preprocessing temperature, and leaching time. Additional exploratory tests focused on iron removal, cobalt elimination, and manganese carbonate synthesis using the leachate. Result This methodology successfully increased manganese leaching efficiency from approximately 65.00% to 86.95% in high-silicon low-grade manganese ores from southwest China. The complete technical route was established, encompassing hydrometallurgical extraction of low-grade high-silicon manganese ores through industrial-grade manganese carbonate production. Conclusion This study can provide a reference for the development and utilization of low-grade high-silicon type manganese ore resources.
